The next EGI student conference

The EGI conference will be held on 9-11 January 2007 at the Department of Zoology, Oxford. Almost 100 people were registered by the closing date so the conference looks set to be good fun.

Registration has officially closed but, space allowing, there may be an opportunity to register in early January. A registration form can be found here.

Conference background

These conferences (which started in 1947) are primarily intended as places for students to present work in a constructive atmosphere, composed mostly of their peers. In addition to undergraduates, graduate students and very early career postdocs a small contingent of benevolent elder academics also attend. The main emphasis is on the conference as a format for students to present their own work.

Historically the conference has always been held at the EGI in Oxford. In future it is intended that the conference will be hosted by a variety of departments with a strong history in ornithology and a link with the EGI. The first such conference was held at the University of Groningen in 2006 [link].
